NEW DELHI – Prices of maize rose in Purnea, a major benchmark in Bihar, due to increased demand from poultry feed manufacturers, while those of wheat were flat in major benchmark markets across the country, traders said.

* Prices of MAIZE rose slightly in Purnea due to strong demand from poultry feed manufacturers amid a decrease in supply, local dealer Kanhaiya Rastogi said.

* Arrivals were pegged at 22,500 bags (1 bag = 65 kg), down 7,500 bags from the previous day.

* Prices of maize were flat in Davanagere, a major market in Karnataka. Arrivals were estimated at 1,000 bags, unchanged from the previous day, local trader Shiva Kumar said.

* Prices of mill-quality WHEAT were steady today in Indore, Madhya Pradesh due to unchanged demand and supply, local trader N.K. Agarwal said.

* In Indore, arrivals were pegged unchanged at 8,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg).

* Prices of mill-quality wheat were also flat in Kota, Rajasthan, due to thin trade as rain disrupted supply, local trader Aniket Mehta said.

* Arrivals were pegged at 7,000 bags, down 3,000 bags from Monday.

* Prices of BASMATI 1121 PADDY and BAJRA were largely unchanged across markets.
