NEW DELHI – The Union Cabinet today approved a total of 350 bln rupees for the continuation of Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay SanraksHan Abhiyan to provide remunerative prices to farmers and to control price volatility of essential commodities for consumers. The total outgo for this scheme is up to 2025-26 (Apr-Mar), it said in an official release.

The government has converged the price support scheme and price stabilisation fund under the Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay SanraksHan Abhiyan to serve the farmers and consumers more efficiently, it said.

The government said it has renewed and enhanced the existing central guarantee to 450 bln rupees for the procurement of notified pulses, oilseeds, and copra at the minimum support prices from farmers. "This would also motivate the farmers to cultivate more of these crops in the country and contribute in achieving self-sufficiency in these crops leading to reduction in dependence on imports to meet domestic requirement," the government said in the release.

Furthermore, the government said the procurement of notified pulses, oilseeds and copra at the minimum support prices under the price support scheme will be 25% of the national production of these crops from the 2024-25 season onwards, which would help states to procure more from farmers. "However, this ceiling will not be applicable in case of Tur, Urad & Masur for 2024-25 season as there will be a 100 % procurement of Tur, Urad & Masur during 2024-25 season as decided earlier," it said.
