NEW DELHI – Prices of maize fell in Purnea, Bihar, today due to a decline in demand from poultry feed manufacturers, while prices of wheat were flat across key spot markets in India, traders said.

* In Purnea, prices of MAIZE fell for the second straight day today due to a decrease in demand from millers and the poultry sector, Kanhaiya Rastogi, a local dealer, said.

* Arrivals were pegged at 16,500 bags (1 bag = 65 kg), down 2,250 bags from Wednesday.

* Prices of maize were stable in Davanagere, Karnataka on demand-supply parity. Arrivals were at 1,000 bags, Shiva Kumar, a local trader, said.

* Prices of mill quality WHEAT were flat today in Kota, Rajasthan on stable demand and supply, said Aniket Mehta, a local trader.

* In Indore, Madhya Pradesh, prices of mill quality wheat were flat. Arrivals were estimated unchanged at 5,000 bags, said a local trader N.K. Agarwal.

* "Prices are not expected to fall beyond 2,350 rupees per 100 kg, due to short arrivals as the new crop will arrive in mandis only in April, which is eight months away," Agarwal said.

* Prices of BASMATI 1121 RICE were unchanged today because of steady demand from bulk buyers, traders said.
